    Will '87 325iS struts fit/work on an '88 325iS?

Am still working on the purchase of a track car and might need some front struts to drive it around a bit before I put a track suspension on it.

Found a decent deal on a pair of front struts from an '87 iS. Will they work on the '88 iS?

      They're interchangable.

        Thanks, Ken.

AllOEMBMWParts.com lists the '87 and older and the '88 and newer struts as different part numbers.

Strange. You might want to measure the diameter of them. *Some* of the older 325 struts were 45mm, but most were 51mm.

              I wasn't aware ANY 325 model E30 had 45mm struts, only the 84 and 85 318i's.

Yeah, I found a local R3V member who can get me two '87 iS struts (used) for about $50.

That's all I need, since they're just to roll the car around and drive it to have the cage welded in.

Neither was I until Fred Kim said that his 84 325 had 45mm ones.

I believe its the inside diameter of the strut tube and/or the outside diameter of the strut insert.

                        Thanks.

I'll hook up with Neil and measure the diameters of his '87 parts and my '88 parts.

Need to get to Sears and pick up a new calipers soon anyhow.
