    If you cut more than an inch off, then yes. There is some forgiveness in there just like any good manufactured part. If you modify it, it will work even though it was intended to work a little differently.

    Bilstein's internal bump stops are like wearing 3 condoms; Sure its safe, but you get more with less. ;)

        Lol good analogy. I'm thinking my bumpstop is just pre-compressed from me riding on it all the time.


        This is the amount of shaft showing to prove my point. The orange on top is the unfinished section where the threads start.



        So you're saying that with 1" cut off that orange won't go past the seal on the strut nut?

        Say I do cut the bumpstop. When I send my struts to Bilstein later on this year to get revalved, are they going to bitch at me?

              I'm pretty certain im sitting on my bumpstops because my car sits just as low with the coils all the way down as it does with them 1/4 inch from the bottom.

              I like the chisel method as well, glad to see more people doing this with success!
