I just haven't heard of anyone using them, so I suppose my question is, is there a reason that people aren't using them?
If I could change one thing about my car right now, is for the front to be a little bit lower. I comtemplated on getting the IE springs, GC Coilovers, etc, but I can't justify getting myself those just for looks. H&R Sports and Bilstein Sports, performance wise, is quite adequate for me.
they work fine, but you lose some suspension travel. TJ had to modify his quite a bit to get them to fit, I had a set but the ix upper strut bearing is completely different so I ended up selling them.
10mm is almost half an inch, and it's too much. The design of them is terrible, however much they lower is how much they reduce suspension travel. I hated them on my car, it bottomed out a lot. I don't see many ways around it, lowered E30's all have suspension travel issues, unless you get into cutting the strut tube and using shorter shocks.
It's a ghetto way to lower your car more, I would never recommend it.

which lowering caps did you have?
So far I have seen that Bonrath (10mm) and Bekkers (1.5" ) make them.

I'm in the same boat, with eibachs my car sits too high in the front, I just need it to come down a hair, you guys think it would be worth the trouble to run no front spring pads?

I had Bonrath. You probably only have about 1.5" of travel right now as it is. Buy new springs or GC's if you want to go lower.

it can make about 1/4" difference depending on how thick yours were.

Yah thats where the problem comes in. I don't really wanna go with the GCs from what I hear about its ride quality.
IE stage 3 or HR Race wouldn't be my cup o' tea either.
I'm just being difficult. I want to remain using the H&R Sports or the alike springs and go just like half an inch or so lower.
There is one other heretofore unmentioned option. You CAN cut your springs to lower it. Keep the ones you have and cut a bit off. I know lots of people that have done that, and it works fine, IF you don't cut too much off. Eric Giles had some springs on his E30 M3 when he bought it that were cut, and they were nearly falling out. The prev. owner had cut waaaay too much off. It was slammed but kinda dangerous. Everybody will prolly flame me for even suggesting this, but all I am saying is that it IS an opition. I don't advocate you doing it, or not doing it. ;)
