    Re-valving Bilstein Sports

For those who had this done, how long did it take and who did it?
Did you opt to modify the internal bump stops, is that an option?

Basically I want to make sure my shocks work in tune with the springs I have selected for my car and it's weight. Rates are 550front/675rear, car's weight is 2500lb w/o me in it.

My current inserts I am sending back to Bilstein for warranty and will then sell them to purchase new / re-valved set. I don't want to revalve my current ones as the fronts are early 318 specific inserts of thinner diameter and my new strut housings are of the late model type.

    Thanks!

The aftermarket Bilstein division in Poway, CA can do re-valving for a fee.

Not too sure if they would be willing to modify the bump stops though.

Spoke with Bilstein today... it's $65 per insert or 75 if they are struts... plus $10 if needed for seals iirc.

The problem is they can't turn my 45mm front inserts into 51mm, nor do they have any 51mm inserts in stock.

Not sure what I am going to do. Might have them rebuild fronts to factory / new condition and sell them (or sell all four and fund other shocks).
The rears are the same, it's the fronts that are a downer.

so this re-valving is pretty much rebuilding old struts?

I was just going to post a WTB ad, but just how beat are they? They need to be good enough where they can rebuild/re-valve them though.

Any rust, or how badly damaged are they?

                Thanks
