that bottom piece that is welded to the casting is the new strut tube. your cartridge with the spring assembly threads into thatwhich is what adjust ride height.

i dont know how many of you actually read the review, but i covered this in one form or another.

Whats the OD on the shock cartridge? I'm fairly sure it will be bigger than your standard Koni or Bilstein insert. Hence the advantage these have over something like GC's.

How can you accurately place that threaded component onto the spindle assembly? Did you make a jig? How do you expect tire wear to be with that kind of variable?

i was waiting for that question. the welding was done by a machine shop, and they measured and marked off everything.

aside from their precision, you cut the oem tube and leave only 2 inches of it on the spindle which centers the new strut tube as it slips over the oem tube.

that and the fact that in order to lower your car, you do not decrease shock travel by moving the spring perch lower on the strut as the gc/koni combo does

I'm always scared when ppl cut up the stock strut that far down. Not just welding to cast is dangerous, but the angle of the strut tube drastically effects so many things. 31 way adjustable means crap to me. I want to see a shock dyno plot of those shocks.

                          Status: HG repair. 488wtq though!

Which is why they use a shorter insert (revalved G60) and spacer setup to retain suspension travel.
