    maybe this is why

According to Ireland Engineering there are two different strut tower distances on the e-30 chassis'. Go to their website and look at there strut bar and it will explain what I am talking about.

Already been discussed 3000000000 times. It was even mentioned earlier in this very thread.

I think it is complete BS.

My fiancee got me a set of front & rear bars for my 87 325is (good woman, i know, that's why i got her a ring). My car has been hit a couple of times, and i'm trying to get the frame re-straightened in order to get my front bar on...the rear bar went on perfectly, but the front's about 1/2" off. I'll update when I've got something!

Please do. Mine wouldn't fit even after removing the strut tower bolts.

            We'll see. ;)

            Let me know! :D

when we put one on permit's car, the white 318is I had, it looked like yours. what we did was take off all three strut tower bolts on both sides, center the bar, and push real hard, we took some paint off of the inside of the strut tower in the process, but it fit in the end.
It really sounds like you're not trying hard enough

I'll probably give that a shot sometime here in the near future again. I had my mom helping me - so I may need someone that can hold the other side for sure, AND doesn't sit there and ask why I need it, why it doesn't fit, and why I'm getting angry. ;)

                      (See my above post)

NOPE!!! My front bar still doesn't fit. My trusted shop put my car on a frame stretcher, and verified the measurements of my car. No dice. My guy said "we could stretch it out, but i'm not sure if all four wheels would touch...that's how far out we'd have to do it to get your bar on..." So although i'm in the minority, i'm starting to be a little more believing of IE's front bar(s). Best of luck!!! I'm screwed!!!

my car obviously doesn't have a sparco strut brace, but the one i bought for it didn't fit either (the bar was almost an inch too long, definetly not a "frame sagging" issue). a few minutes with a grinding wheel and a welder fixed that problem though... not sure how hard that would be on a sparco bar, but I would modify the bar for sure before fucking with your car's frame.

Nando, isn't that extreme, cutting those bolts off? How hard was it to weld? I didn't have them stretch the frame just to put the bar on there...my car had been hit in the front left, and I was assuming the frame was slightly off. The frame stretcher verified that my car is dimensionally correct.

cutting what bolts off? I cut up the mounts for the strut bar and moved them in so it would fit. I didn't cut any bolts. I'm saying you could leave the car alone and just shorten the bar..

Try unbolting the side you bolted down, try to get a loose fit then bolt it down. i had to yank and pull putting mine on, it was tough.

Is that the only way to get a strut bar for an IX? Man, you IXers are hardcore.
