Both companies claim to offer top adjustable revalved Koni's for E30's. I believe they are Mustang/VW shocks that have been revalved for typical E30 spring rates. I was wondering if anyone had more insight on the TC Kline Koni's. The GC Koni's are a bit more expensive than the TC Kline's, so I'm wondering if they are better. Thanks.

I was set on getting AST 4100's until I ran across some used 400/650 GC coils/adjusters for a good price. Now I need some shocks to match. That's why I asked specifically about revalved Koni's. Even with new shocks I'd be at about 1K, which is half the price of AST's. While AST's may be better, I'm sure this setup will be more than enough for what I use the car for."I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj

I'd say you can't go wrong with either company, but I'd pick Ground Control just based on the help they gave me on my swap car, and that they are obviously still developing things for the E30.
I believe he is getting ready to release a more budget oriented camber plate, in addition to the 2-3 options already available.
They also offer a "bastard" kit so you can get the correct caster when using E36 parts for a 5 lug swap.
So support the guys that are supporting these cars.
Also, you can PM "Hellabad" on here. That is Jay from Ground Control.Need parts now? Need them cheap? steve@blunttech.com

As far as I know, TCK does not offer re-valved shocks/struts for e30s. I had to order a new front dual adjustable strut when I got my suspension and emailed them asking if they were re-valved or not and I was told they are not.

Thanks Gooch. I guess they just modify them to work on E30's? Their site says they are revalved to TCK specs by Koni which conflicts with what you said. I wonder if they are revalved or just using Mustang/VW spec OTS shocks. Maybe I should just order from GC."I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj

Barry,
TCK told me that all their other shocks and struts are re-valved (e36, e46, etc) but not e30s. It is a "race" part number, though. I can post it up when I get home on Sunday if youd like.

Barry, pick Koni or Bilstein and get them re-valved for your coilovers :)Mtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205

Thought about that too but I'd rather just spend the extra money up front and get the GC or TCK Koni's.
Gooch, thanks for the info! Is that why you went with the TCK DA coilovers? I just noticed they are only slightly more than AST 4100's (that are only rebound adjustable) ...hmmmm interesting.Last edited by reelizmpro; 07-23-2010, 10:18 PM."I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj

Actually, the only reason I have the D/A's is because I stumbled upon a member of s14.net selling the whole suspension out of his M3, and I jumped at the chance to do a 5-lug swap with coilovers for a killer price.
I love the suspension, but if I were in your shoes, I'd go AST.

As promised, here's the part number for the fronts: "8611-1258 Race." I can't find the part number for the rears at the moment, but I'll try to dig it up if you'd like it.

No worries. I wanted to get the 4100's but my M3 is more of a garage queen. It's my 3rd car so I maybe drive it once a week. I also have my M Tech cabby that needs a new suspension as well so money is a factor. I'm going to put the GC's on my M3 and put the H&R Race on the cabrio. Thanks anyway."I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj
