No spring pads

What I'm hearing are conflicting arguements. Some people on here are telling me that its okay to remove my rear spring pads, and run w/o them on. On the otherhand, our family mechanic friend who owns a Volvo & Benz shop is warning me not do so.
Here's the setup:
-91' 318i.
-eibach pro-kit springs
-e90 front 'upper spring plates'

should I remove BOTH front & rear rubber spring pads?

You ever see what the trailing arms look like after GC spring perches have been on there for a long time? The last car I had here in my shop, the nub broke clean off when we tried pulling the springs. They fill with water.
