FK/Tokico combo- Comments/Critique?

I have run almost all shocks known on the market on my scirocco and hands down the bilstein sports are the best and the only set that I did not blow within 3 months.

my e30 came to me with bilstein sports on stock springs and that is what is most pulling me towards just doing springs instead of full coilovers because I already have the bilsteins.

I ran bilstein pss9's on my 06 jetta - rode the same new as they did after 60k miles.


cliffs notes version - bilstein shocks/products are top notch and my #1 choice for suspension components if they are available for the platform/needs.

I had kybs and eibachs on my 95 accord coupe. It was comfortable but to soft for the drop and i would bottom out frequently on dips.

Ive got Old KYBs on my car now, and they seem to ride pretty well. Of course I daily a Corolla, so I Don't really have a comparison.

I hear that driving on lowering springs with shocks that arn't meant for lowering springs will cause the shocks to blow out pre-maturely .

I'd get Billys, But Im in College, So blowing $400 on shocks is a bit out of the question.

Ive been considering this set too, seems they have a couple sets in stock. Anyone have any comments on these ??

Go back to honda tech. Billie sports last forever. My dad has had his set since 1988 and they still ride like new. Beats replacing crap shocks every other year.

I first thought you meant they were cheap when you said "450 for shocks is a joke".

Because for Bilstein Sports, that is cheap.. On my 'weekend' car, Bilstein Sports are $800.

Soft springs and bunk shocks that will blow out after about 5000 miles and or one track day, whichever comes first.
My Tokico's lasted about that long on my first e30 before the fronts were toast.

Save your money and get some decent shocks at least. These days a set of billie sports run around 400 when on sale and 430-450 regularly

Ive done a ton of research for the past week and I have come to the conclusion that the following setup is the best bang for the buck:

-Tokico HP shocks/struts
-FK lowering springs
Total amounts to $230 through piecing together this kit from multiple sources.

I'll be using this setup on my daily '85 325e that will see very occasional track time.
Basically, what's to keep me from pulling the trigger??
