Would this be too much rear bar? I'm gonna be using them with vogtland springs and kyb's. Would the 14.5mm rear be a better DD set up? Really just want an OEM+ set up. Car is an 84 e.
Alot of the feedback I've read on this very subforum seem to show that most people prefer having a stock rear bar or no rear bar at all. Too hard of a rear bar makes the rear end skittish/too stiff and breaks more unexpectedly.
Personally, I'm going to be going 23/12 for my 318i. :P
Are these coilovers you're going for??
Is the car for track use?
If yes, then over here alot of the guys tend to loose the rear ARB as it causes oversteer on the track.
Well that's my question. I know guys lose the bar when they are running stiff springs/coilovers, but I'm gonna be on Vogtland springs which arent the stiffest out there.
The correct sway bars are driven by the choice of springs. 22/19mm bars are a good match for springs whose rates are around that of H&R Race springs. Go stiffer or softer and you'll need different sways for handling balance.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

So if i were to run vogtlands, my best bet would be 21/14.5 bars?
^^ not necessarily, but they will certainly help. Some of ARB choice comes with your driving style, because they have a very big impact on the balance of the car. I have relatively soft GC coilovers on my car now, and I'm running a 21mm front and 14.5 rear. The balance is good, but I'd like to go stiffer on the front. IMHO, stiffer than a 14.5 in the rear just cuts down on rear traction too much, unless wherever you run doesn't have any bumps at all, hah. Likely what I will eventually di is weld M3 tabs onto the front strut housings to get the extra stiffness I want.
What about a 16mm rear bar? Didn't really know these existed untill a couple days ago.
I like the idea of running a 16mm rear sway bar if you're running fairly soft aftermarket spings. I just picked up 16mm Dinan rear for my vert. I'm also switching to m3 style ASB mounts for my 21mm front bar. I have Dinan springs.
