Another option that is within your price rang is Gaz coilovers. Their street GHA kit cost 1000 bucks 150 including shipping. They weld your struts for you. You just send them your old one or buy their spares. So their kit is shipped to you complete. No welding required. They change the dampening of your shock to match your spring rate. Did I mention you can choose your spring rate at no extra cost. Their GOLD kit is used in the Production BMW Championship in the UK. So they have racing Pedigree.

You can also find more info on them on other forums like lotus and fordpassion. I dont know of any manufacturer that offers as many customizable variations as Gaz for their price. Example they offer coilover set up in the rear, they welded on e36 sway bar tabs, spring rates, modify your struts for all included price. How do I know, I have GAZ.

If you dont want try the BC, then GC is a good proven set up.

I just like giving the new guys a chance at proving themselves (BC) and they are doing quite well in my book.
Awesome! Thanks for the info..truly appreciated. As far as spring rates go, any suggestions? I'd rather sacrifice ride quality for a more grippy drive.

$1000 for taiwanese made stuff, with generic spring rates and dampers
$1400 (if you do the work yourself, or $1600 for them to do the work) for Koni's specifically valved to the E30 and the proper spring rates, by a company with years and years of experience setting up BMWs and E30s.

Yeah, you're right. That BC stuff seems like a GREAT option.

Adjustable koni are exactly that. Plain old Koni adjustable. They're ok I used adjustable koni's on my lemons car.

Are you saying Gaz is taiwanese? I think you have your Geography mixed up. The Gazzard Engineering Company is located in England. You can also call Gaz and tell them you're using it for Rally Racing and they can build it to a different spec than road racing.

BC is a 100% Taiwanese brand.

I personally like 650 up front and if you keep the rear spring location about 850 or higher. I had ran full slicks so they had stiff side walls. But anything above 450 up front and 500~600 rear is fine. Anything lower you might as well buy H&R race springs.

most run 10/12k, I have 10/14k its bumpy but the struts control them very well. I track my car quite a bit without any problems and its a daily driver.

True, and I have had many sets of German made KWs but I still think the BC are a best bang for your buck. And even for a Taiwanese company, they stand very well behind their products. I have even had 2 of my KWs on different sets start leaking on me, but I still love them too and would never knock them since they rebuild them for free.

Well you can't please everyone but I do have to correct you that you can get custom spring rates from BC, request the strut mounted sway bar mount that most others don't have, pillow ball mounts with camber/caster plates and have full shock travel.

Yes they are a great buy if one has enough courage to try the "newer/younger" company out. I did, I love em, and they do what I need them to do on the track and on the street
