IE front strut bar rubs M20 on AKG poly motor mounts

i have an 87 325is and I just installed a IE strut bar last night. Right now it rubs the intake manifold. It causes LOTS of vibrations and cant stay this way

Anyone run aftermarket motor mounts on their M20 and have touching issues with their Ireland Engineering front strut bar. Specifically the red AKG motor mounts.

Thanks. im going to go check if something obvious could be wrong
m20 is plenty. im simply a drifter.

Never heard of that happening, must be some tall mounts!

someone said on my build thread that the AKG motor mounts looked like E21 mounts. Ive never heard such a thing until my front strut touched. maybe they are tall. either way it pissed me off so out came the hammer.
I was like not one f'ing thing can be added without a problem, WHACK!

Now im happy. but fyi, AKG motor mounts are taller! they work great, just tall

Taller than normal motor mounts cause the engine/trans to cant up slightly, which results in a slight misalignment of the drive shaft (and interference with the strut bar). I'd have replaced those motor mounts with ones of the correct height.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Along with the geometry issues pointed out by jlevie, you are raising the center of gravity.

So what then is the height of the stock mounts in mm? Matter of fact has anyone compiled a list of various motor mounts for E30, E12, etc and their associated dimensions and what they can fit. That would be some useful info for many of us....hmmm

Idk what u guys are talking about with stress on the driveshaft from not being aligned. Your talking millimeters of a difference and trying to magnify it into more of a problem than it is. Im pretty sure AKG knows what their mounts do. They are very knowledgable. I just got the motor mounts so theyre not goin anywhere.lol and many many ppl use them.
Please dont respond with what angle the motor should be at and other numbers that are only important to u.haha
                    Look at the AKG website.
Im positive that my car is happy with poly motor mounts, e21 tranny mounts and the strut bar. Especially since my motor and tranny mounts were broken, everythings straight and smooth now

Bearmw is right tho. We should get a list of dimensions goin for mounts. Now im curious.
Its like when my ST 22mm front sway bar rubbed my race skids cross brace. Some things just wont fit. There someone actually confirmed they had a similar fitment issue.

Has anyone actually run into strut bar issues with AKG mounts tho?

I just installed some new STOCK motor mounts , and it now touches the motor.

I don't feel any vibrations yet.

                        AHA!

                        so its not my mounts.lol
if its touching u will feel the vibrations, at least u should. i felt/heard it as soon as i started the car. U dont want it touching tho. I had a bootleg strut bar on for a sec and it was touching my manifold. it put a little indentation on the manifold in just a few days. Ill post some pics in the morning

Thanks for posting tho. I was really starting to question the mounts for a sec

yeah, so significant that it will affect how hard you're able to corner. Please enlighten us, does this mean the strut bar will compress easier? Just to make sure, this is what you're saying, right?

I really don't feel any vibrations whats so ever. 40-45 i have this weird vibration, but it was happening before the bar was even installed. I was thinking about smashing the bar a tad , but not worth it to me, it doesn't really matter if the bars touching a little bit.
