Are the Bilstein Sport Shocks built only for cars with lowering springs or can they be safely used with stock springs?

Originally posted by DigitalwaveYou were close but you have it backwards. HDs are for stock springs and Sports are shorter for lowering springs. I think you might do damage to them using Sports on stock springs but I am honestly not sure.Comment

The bilstein touring shock is a good choice for a stock spring, its slightly sportier than a boge and has the bilstein life time warentee. The HD would be a good fit for the stock spring and is stiffer than the touring but it tends to give the car a "monster truck" lookComment

you won't damage the sports with stock springs. I had rear bilstien sports in my car when it was stock, and after I got konis I gave them to a friend who put them in his stock 318is.. they're still fine, you can't bottom them out and there should still be plenty of travel.Comment

Well there's the answer. I just wasn't sure if it put stress on the shock using it with stock springs.Comment

I thought sports were just as long as stock shocks... just different valving... or is it that konis are that much shorter, and thats why they reccommend them for ground control?
