Why not juts buy a new spring kit? Drop-in springs are like $250 & gc are only $400.

No, it doesn't. H&R Race springs are fairly stiff and JOM springs and pretty soft. Not exactly a match made in heaven.

The problem is that you have at the most, what, one body in the trunk? Be a good Californian and get that number up to 3-4 and I think you'll find it rides just right.

Did you ask what the PO did for a living? ;)

It takes me a little over an hour to change all 4 springs, there is NO OTHER WAY to make the rear of your car lower. You need different springs.

    suspension first then wheels.

read. read the forums, learn, then there'll be no need to ask the obvious and go round in circles with everyone.

kids these days just think they can ask the internet everything as if its never been asked. Things stay on the internet for just about forever, so chances are it has all been asked before..

Rear spring swap can be done in 30mins. Less if you have an impact wrench.

Just accept it for now until you get the suspension you really want. Also, since you're on factory Sachs shocks, look into Bilstein Sports. You'll also likely need new rear shock mounts while there. What kind of coilovers were you considering?

Coilovers that come in at less than $1500-2000 have quite a bit of DIY attached. I have H+R race springs, Bilstein Sport shocks, Rouge Engineering rear shock mounts and 15mm drop hats in the front and its great. Low enough even with a 4 cyl engine, stiff enough for track use bit still very drivable on the daily. Its a great setup, not too expensive, everything bolted right up and was easy to come by.

Remember, once you change one thing, there are others you need to think of. Lower/stiffer springs and stock dampers will leave you bottoming out your struts and bouncing around because the shocks can't keep up with the springs, with stiffer shocks the stock rubber mounts will wear out more quickly and the shock rod will eventually push up through. What about a skid plate so you don't smash your oil pan from being low. What condition are your control arms/all your rubber bushings in? Just saying these are all questions to ask yourself, and yes, this all does matter and makes a huge difference between a car that looks good by being lowered and a car that looks good, rides well, handles well and doesn't make you hate driving it.
