Hi guys, first time posting here, although I signed up last year August :p
My rear shocks are going on my 1988 325 and I thought of changing out the springs as well. As there are only 3 sets left of the M3 springs, would these fit okay on my car? Planning to go Bilstein Sports as this is my wife's DD.

On the other hand, I spotted KYBs on ECS Tuning which looks promising too. Not looking to slam it but just enough to take away some of the 4X4 look.

    Thanks!

Update: just bought the M3 springs

IMO, they kick ass. Not too low nor too high, I'm satisfied. $70+tax at it's finest.

(the angle might show more wheel gap than it appears in person)
    Awesome looking car man!!

I made a post comparing both.. The M3 coils in the front are 1.25" longer than the 318 coils and have 1/2 more coil in the winding (7 vs 6 1/2).

I sold my car that i was going to put my springs on. If any locals are interested in picking up a set of 318is springs let me know.

You are correct. I should have specified where I got my numbers. For the front, I am counting the number of coils between the ends of the spring (when looking at the side of the spring, with the ends visible, there are 5 coils between the ends that will seat on the spring perches). On the rear, I counted the full width coils, but ignored the pigtail ends. I am aware than this is not 100% accurate, but am sharing it as a ballpark estimate of the spring rate to help people make their decision.

I will add data once I install them and can accurately measure the free coils under compression. Until then, however, I am curious to know how the different ST springs compare to each other, as that would certainly affect peoples choices for ordering. There are currently m3 springs still available. Who knows if they will add more.

Using this spring rate calculator, and the measurements from my ST m3 springs, I got:

    Front spring rate = 128.5 in/lbs
    Wire Diameter: .498 in
    Spring OD: 5.622 in
    # of active coils: 5

    Rear spring rate = 316.3 in/lbs
    Wire Diameter: .592 in
    Spring OD: 5.615 in
    # of active coils: 4

Which puts them relatively close to the stock m3 springs (depending on the source).
I am unsure of just how much I trust this, but it is very easy to do, and seems very believable, given their application, and the drop the promise.
If anybody has a set of the 318 springs handy, and could calculate them for comparison's sake, I am sure others would be interested to know.

I ordered the ST m3 springs, which arrived today.
I am going to install them on my 87 325e coupe. My suspension setup is currently:

Front: KYB gr2 shock inserts, stock springs with one coil cut off, and e90 drop hats, and all spring pads in place.

Rear: KYB Gasadjust shocks, h&r sport springs, all spring pads in place.

I am debating whether or not to install the drop hats in the front, and whether to pull some or all of the spring pads.

I am relatively happy with the ride height, although I would like the rear to be a little lower. I bought the ST springs hoping they are stiffer then my current setup.

Has anybody installed the ST m3 springs in a 325 (non convertable) yet? I am curious to see just how low they are. Any advice on drop hats, spring pads?

(And yes, I know the KYB's are too weak for these springs. I will deal with that later.)

Just ordered the M3 set. Read the thread and some people say its stiff like H&R race and some says its smooth. I have a feeling the M3 set is stiffer. Will report back once I install them.
