There are two different issues, one is the subframe(AKG sells a reinforcement kit - weld in tabs to reinforce the bolt down areas) second is the subframe mounts(Ireland has those.)

Email me if you want pictures to make better sense.

Can the reinforcement plates be welded in with the subframe still in the car?

Considering I have the luxury of a welder I need to figure out how to do this cleanly without removing the subframe.

Sorry to say but the easiest solution would be to swap in a new to you subframe in better shape.

happened to my car. better off and cheaper to just get a good used sub frame. BUT if you are doing some serious driving - I would run an extra weld bead across the that area to reinforce it.

swapping subframes is easier and cheaper then welding in reinforcement plates?

I am happy to report that I was able to weld the pieces back on with the subframe still on the car. Much stronger then before.

did you have the tab that broke off or are you talking about the ireland reinforcement plates?

those ireland plates arc welded in..i cant see them breaking

I had the tab's that broke off, but generally there is enough space to get a mig welder ip above the tab to weld from both sides.
