found this thread on s14.net, this idea has already been done with what seems to be great results.

If they were $100 In the US that would be something. Or if you could use roll center spacers to actually improve geometry with them, a la e30 m3 roll center spacers.
These days its way too easy to get proper coils on an e30 to go through the effort otherwise IMO

Then shell out the money for proper shocks. Bilstein sports will not shit out on H&R springs. I just removed the setup from my old e30 and installed it on my Brother's e30. The inserts are around 4 years old and STILL have a shit ton of dampening. They rebound with one bounce of the car.
I have no idea what you are running.
IMHO 1,500 is cheap for a complete GC valved insert setup. Too much? buy a Honda, they have direct swap Tein sport kits and handle just fine for daily use. Want to race? invest in a proper setup.~ Puch Cafe. ~ Do business? feedback ~ Check out my leather company ~

Well I started this thread just to show another possible suspension option I stumbled upon. In my eyes more than 1k for suspension is pricey for an non-M E30 and a regular guy on a budget. Considering the average E30 owner is also trying to swap motors, fix paint, redo interiors, buy wheels and a whole bunch of other miscellaneous crap at the exact same time. Then shell out the money for proper shocks. And If my car was going to be a 100% dedicated weekend track rat than yes 1.5K would be a feasible about to spend and not think twice. However most peoples e30s are for daily driving. Maybe a civic is in my future. You can have my wood roof rood rack when I leave the game so you can have an extra. Love you buddy, the m30 is looking nice BTW.Comment

Sounds like you're a good candidate for a decent set of lowering springs and Bilstein Sports then.
In my eyes its foolish to buy something like a cheap c/o setup, but if that is what floats your boat... (this is coming from a full time student).
On the other hand..... mmmm... M30.Comment

Buy GC Kit or BC kit, theyre worth every penny and great value, way cheaper than buying multiple setups. Save and buy it once and be DONE!!!!
Been on the GC kit for past 10k miles slammed and rides just as good as it did the day I installed (daily driven) and even did a few Auto X's.
Don't be cheap, if you wanna be cheap, don't own a German car. Buy a fuckin honda/yota.(SOLD) 1988 327i Build Thread: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=155086
