run a string from the back tire up to the front on both sides. i set my tow at 1/8 to 3/16". tis good for a while, but you really need to get it done professionally.

I simply put the steering wheel straight. Lay down beside my car and line up the tires with eyes. Usually works well for me.

depends on driving conditions but 1/16" total toe in for stability or 1/16" total toe out for quick response. i feel like a laser level or the string method would work decently well.

that's really all you can adjust until you start modifying suspension components.

its so much easier to just swing into a shop with a laser rack and pay the 50 bucks to have it done properly. most of the time it comes with a warranty too

$50? Closer to $80-100 in my experience. Would love to pay $50!

I looked into doing it myself. But it was going to be way, way to much work to even get close to any kinda of 1/32" tolerance. If you mess up, you won't really know until you see bad wear on your tires - so there's that too.

Oh - it might because I have an adjustable rear subframe. So I always get the 4 wheel alignment. Forgot about that part.

Yeah, front wheel, single point alignment here is $50 as well.

And I agree, spend the money and get it done professionally. Tape measure works ok to get it to the shop, but not much else. It's not like you have to have it done often anyway.

If you know someone that works at a tire shop, you can usually get a hook up. I get my alignments done for $40.

I remember reading somewhere here about someone developing a DIY alignment tool but I can't find the thread.

Hunter developed a great alignment machine. Trying to duplicate what they do with string and lasers, you're going to have a bad time.

+1. Just go get it aligned and save yourself a hassle.

I do this, then take it to a shop to get in spec. Eyeing it does not get it right for daily. Cost is about 60.00 around me for a 3d scan with the wheel mounted alignment guides.

I'll mark and measure my old parts when I install new (tie-rids, etc), then get it aligned when I go to work. Tires and alignments are two things I'll pay one of the techs at work to do. Fuck DIYing that shit. Plus too it's like $35 for me. ^_^
