i just find it laughable when in striving for looks, you create functionality issues

Explain to me how is it a functionality issue? Its a minor annoyance at best. My car makes a whole lot of annoying noises and the like. Its just another item on the list.

When any car is modified to this extent, well beyond anything the factory ever intended, you are bound to have to clearance things and do *heaven forbid* custom modifcations.

you're having to do custom work to make your looks changes work. not something, you know, practical. and you are dead set on keeping it absoutely slammed. it's just funny

and installing GC's for looks, ha. Going with camber plates to allow you to slam it, instead of making use of them. Sorry, i should just respect your show mindset and keep my laughing to myself and others who see it

I'm not dead set on keeping the current ride height, there is just no reason to change it. I could stand it 1/4in higher, but there is no reason to make it that high. Now after I have the 8.5in wheels up front with 245's I will likely have to raise it up a smidge and give it more camber.

            I see rust

time to strip the car down to bare metal and repaint.

I bet that'll make more than a "little mark" when the tire slams into it while you're going down the highway.

It wouldn't ever happen on the highway. Either way the mark on the tire is barely what I would consider a scuff. Its only happened on really shitty bumpy heavey roads while hauling ass.

                Horrible little mark:

                  Bottoming Out!

It's only semantics to say a car is not bottoming out because the strut still has travel when the wheel/tire is hitting the unibody. A situation where the spring rate rapidly approaches infinity. The suspension at that point becomes the spring rate of the tire and then, the unibody. OEM tire size (24") would give another .5" clrearance. Time to un-mod or stay off of "really rough bumpy roads hauling ass." Being cheap myself, I would just cruise the boulevards.

Be careful with that lip, it's actually a seam where the 2 halfs of the frame rail are bonded together. Don't go to crazy.

I rubbed it with my RS' one day, here's a shot of the action:

And it was because I wasn't running any bumpstops, which seem to be missing on your struts.

yes, you can cut it or flatten the lip out with a hammer. I used a grinder and then sanded the lip until it was flush with the rest of the wheel well.

                            Problems from looking good.

Whatever else you say about it, that is one good lookin' E30.

Man, so many people lower their cars more than is ideal for handling. Just because you're not bottoming out doesn't mean your car is lowered correctly. See, the only point of decreasing your center of gravity is to decrease the size of your roll couple, the virtual lever arm that exists between your Cg and your roll center. Lower a macphearson or semi-trailing arm suspension more than about 1-1.5" (depending on the car) and your handling will actually be WORSE compared to a car with the same spring rates and a higher ride height. Having a lower centerr of gravity in and of itself means nothing.

                              Read up:
