    Extending front control arms

Has no one extended an e30's front control arm before, i googled it and there was literally nothing. Im not talking about getting after market control arms, just extending the stock ones.

I suppose one could cut and weld in an extension. But given how critical the control arms are, that seems like playing russian roulette with six rounds in a revolver. The end result would be the same as camber plates or bending the struts, which are low risk options.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I'd rather dick around with tie rod combos to make e46 control arms fit than try to weld extensions into the control arms.

          E46 arms.
Round out the square control arm bushing nub. (Or buy AKG adaptable bushings)
          E36 inner rods
          E90 outer rods

(I could be mixing which is inner/out though.)

Thanks for the input. I have heard of the e46 arms and might pursue this. I want to know because i need the the knuckle/hub farther out, im having some minor problems with fitting a grippy tire under the fender without rubbing on the swaybar at lock, also the extra camber would be somewhat useful. This is for a drift car btw. Thanks guys

If you dont want to bother messing with stuff,

Trusted by top racing and drifting teams worldwide. Angle kits, Coilovers, Sway Bars, Camber Plates, Caster, Lock Kits, Drifting Kits, Toe Plates, Wheel Hubs, Steering Kits, Drifting Suspension, Subframe Brace, Control Arms, Lollipops, Coilover Conversion, Lower Control Arms, Steering Rack Stops, Lock Limiters, Tie Rod

Denofa uses it (or used it? idk if its on his new car, id assume so)

Im going to get one myself when i get the extra cash, also from what ive heard the guy that makes it Sean, is a pleasure to deal with.

I was looking at this kit, but it is just out of my price range, plus im not skilled enough to utilize the kit to its full potential yet. I have heard great things about it though.

You might want to wait then, your looking at spending around 300ish? or so for e46 arms, plus getting them to work.

For now grab some tie rod spacers from these guys,

And save up for the SLR kit, then when you get the kit youll have even MORE angle due to the spacers. Just my 2 cents.

I like your idea. I am a mechanical engineer so its hard for me to buy a kit like that that is so simple and easy to copy myself with the right resources. I do need new ball joints and one new control arm up front though, so maybe... why spend money on the stock set-up when i can convert to e46 for not too much more? I will have to do some research to see which route is best for me. Thanks for the help guys.
