Of course they will fit the stock housing, but the body of the shock is shorter. Also the valving is different. You have to space up the sport shock, just like you do the ix shock in the housing the make sure the locking nut does it's job correctly.

The whole argument can be a convoluted mess. I will stop talking because I'm getting multiple sources claiming different things. Plus I use Koni so I don't really care haha.

Body of the shock is shorter. But the sleeve is the same length as an oem shock so it fits in the strut housing with no spacer. I've always heard that the hd and sport rates are the same. The ix hd insert is physically shorter.Originally posted by priapismMy girl don't know shit, but she bakes a mean cupcake.Originally posted by shamesonUsually it's best not to know how much money you have into your e30Comment

forgot to update this-
installed the Koni's up front, no camber plates and resolved the problem.
supah toight now.
one complaint about the koni's...
"adjustable"...right.
you need to yank out the entire struts, and adjust...it's not like some other koni adjustables that are simply done at the flick of a knob.Originally posted by flyboyxi have watched my dog lick himself off a few timesComment

Seriously? I wonder if vert shocks are different. I run 5-lug now but the 4-lug konis I had were top mount adjustment......sigpic

I guess they are...
it's kind of a drag...you need to remove the entire assembly in order adjust rebound.
All the other Koni's I've seen, and have owned have all been externally adjustable...Koni calls this "standard adjustable"
pretty ghetto for the amount of $$ you pay for them IMO
it's not really clear when you order them, I thought all Koni yellow where externally adjustable...

You bought the shitty kind of Koni, then. Plenty of E30 fitment Konis out there that are top adjustable.
Of course, you could have simply trimmed the internal bump stop in the Bilstein. And yes, camber plates at the SAME ride height would have improved things as well. Depending on the design of the plate, you might have needed to switch to longer springs in order to achieve the same ride height without running the risk of blocking the springs.2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD 4WD LBZ/Allison
