IE3 w/ Billy Sport- Need trim Bump Stop?

I will be swapping my Vogtland springs for IE Stage 3 in a week or so and wanted to know if anyone recommends trimming the bump-stop in the Billy Sports. Part of the reason I am switching to IE3 is because I frequently bottom out now and would prefer to know if I should trim while everything is apart.

You most definitely do NOT have to trim the bump stops on Unmodified ie3s and bilsteins. It's a proven bolt on no issues setup.

Thanks for the replies. It should make the swap a lot easier if I can just leave the struts alone.

I have that setup in my car (that was installed by the previous owner) but I've been in and around my suspension a bit and as far as I know you dont need to trim anything. It should just bolt right on.

It's bolt up and go. If you're hitting the bump stops something is wrong with the springs or the shocks. Whereby wrong I mean that someone cut a spring or the shocks are shot.

But you can do it, it certainly won't hurt anything to give more travel.

I did it with mine but I also have 1/2 coil cut and GC Touring camber plates so it's lower.

So I replaced my old Vogtland springs w the new IE3 springs lowering drop-hats and IE street/ track camber plates. And honestly I was hoping for some drop up front, especially considering IE springs were about an inch shorter.
I drove about an hour on the new setup and I was very pleased the ride was much smoother. Now Im hoping the springs might settle a bit.

IE drop from stock is a well known thing with lots of pictures posted around here and elsewhere. Are you saying it dropped less than the known amount, or less than you imagined?

Don't camber plates raise it back up?

The other thing that might be happening is the weight of your car. Is it stock, weight, heavy, or light?
With a 125 spring, you're going to drop a half inch for every 250lbs* in the car. With the IE 315, you're dropping a half inch for every 630lbs* in the car. That's a huge difference. I know that my car is 200lbs under stock, and as such rides a little bit higher than stock cars with the same H&R race springs.

Is your car more fun to drive? Good, then enjoy thy self :D


*I'm assuming equal distribution of weight across all four corners, and assuming equal springs on all four corners, after taking into account that the rear springs are half way of a lever and not perfectly comparable. But you get the point.

Thanks Earendil, yes the car does ride much better even after only 200 miles. I was planning on giving it another 2-300 miles and taking in for a proper alignment now that I have camber adjustment.

I am running the H&R Race spring which are similar. Both spring pads in the front, and both with an extra one in the rear make it look more even.
