H&R OE Sport with Yellow Koni

I am confused which koni shocks to use! Since the H&R OE sport will drop my 1987 325is, to the same hight as e30 M3, I am wondering if I should get yellow konis made for M3.

    Has anyone tried this?

I just got back from Koni:

    325is:

    8641 1021sport compression 500nm, rebound (min)850nm
    80 2522sport - compression 600nm, rebound (min) 950nm

    M3:

    8641 1210sport - compression 700nm, rebound (min) 750nm
    80 2522spa1 - compression 600nm, rebound (min) 950nm

what do you guys think? which set would be better with H&R OE sport and e90 drop hats?

Use the shocks meant for a 325is and set initial rebound damping to 1/2 turn from full soft.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I was under the impression that to adjust the e30 Koni struts you had to remove them which makes no sense from a practical stand point.

I decided to go with M3 shocks and struts!

Mark, do you know if there is any harm by using e90 drop hats? it look like, its a little controversial?! I understand I need to use proper washers, but even with that I was wondering if the angle of the top of the hat is the same as e30 hat?

I have not tried the e90 hats myself, so unfortunately, I don't have a personal answer for that.

To my knowledge, the springs will fit, but some have had issues with the hats hitting the upper mount when too few washers were used.

Let me go find a spring and I'll confirm...

OK, just checked the hat in a spring. fitment is perfect, and there is no angle in the hat.

Please update thread with how you like the spring/shock combo, after you've had a chance to drive it for a while. Ive been thinking about the exact same setup.

Just finished installing everything yesterday. I ended up using H&R sport (50406) with Yellow Konis made for 1987 325is, 86411021sport and 802522sport. I also used all paddings and e90 drop hat. I am very pleased with how it turned out! The front is very nicely lowered. It rides very nice and comfortable way better than stock, not harsh at all!!!

The other set up I was thinking about, M3 yellow konis, are too short for for H&R sport or H&R OE sport. They should work great with H&R Race. I am gonna put them on the classified sections soon.

I hear some Knocking from front end which was there before redoing the suspension. I think its due to sway bar links. My questions is whether I need to use adjustable links with this set up or not?

You don't really ever "need" adjustable links on a street car...

You may have to get shorter links, mine were too long so I made some from bits off of 4wheelparts. They came out almost like OE, just an inch shorter.
