I noticed a huge difference when i went from old steering knuckle with OEM guibo to a brand new steering knuckle with aluminum guibo. I now love my steering all of the loves <3
      P.S. I have E36 rack
Hows your tie rods? Ball joint? CA bushings? Do you have a strut tower brace?

Was the rack recently rebuilt or new? It could just be worn internally.

did you even try to drive it yet? if not, rev the motor up and hold it so it drives the pump and go lock to lock and have someone check fluid for you as you do it. Most likely u just need bleed the system (by doing rev and lock to lock).

I noticed the same thing when I did my swap. I have a new (not rebuilt) AAE z3 1.9 rack from rockauto. Pretty good price and no core charge because it's new.

Anyway, super quick steering, I love it. But it's pretty darn light when moving and real heavy if I'm not moving. I have ps on the S50. The PS pump is old but everything else is new. Even have an e36 PS cooler for shits and gigs.

I'm aligned 1/16" toe in with some longacre plates. Tracks straight. Just has super light steering when moving and very heavy when at a standstill. I suspect it's just the rack.

The super heavy steering at a standstill has disappeared. Maybe it just needed time to get all the air out? I did replace everything in the system. All hoses, reservoir, cooler, etc. Approx 1000 miles. I love it. If you are on the fence about doing a rack swap, DO IT!

Weird. I did an aligntment and replaced the tie rod assembly and still super super light. I hate it--it feels like a toy.

Anyone else experience this? What can I do to make the power steering heavier?
