    Plates for most positive camber

    Hi guys,

    Trying to figure out who makes camber plates for our cars that would give the most positive camber.

    Reason I ask is that I'm looking at doing a SLR angle kit or something along those lines... problem is that (from what I hear) they put the camber around -6* or so, which is way too extreme for me. I guess I could settle for around -2~-2.5*

    GC camber plates will get 2.5deg, or a bit more, with stock sized springs.
    The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

      if you called up mark at GC, he could give you some input on what they have to offer. I would recommend staying away from the cheaper/off brand camberplates as well.

        iirc GC E28 camber plates more adjustability (I'm not sure in what direction, though) with some modification to the shock tower.

          If using stock diameter springs, the camber limit occurs when the upper spring perch starts rubbing on the strut tower. On the various cars I've worked on (with Spec E30 suspension) that happens at about 2.5deg. Some folks claim to get 3 or 3.5deg, but I've not seen that without bending the strut housings.

            Hmm... so basically, if I did end up installing an angle kit the most positive my camber could ever get would be around -3.5*? That's still a bit on the extreme side for me... I see why the wisefab kit includes that wacky strut "relocator"

              That's with stock diameter springs. Most "coilover" aftermarket springs are a smaller diameter.

                    Ok so does anyone know what the length of the SLR or wisefab control arms are vs stock? Also wondering what the length difference is between them and the (e46) control arms.

                    Not really sure what I want to do here, but now that I'm thinking about it I'm not sure how I feel about those exposed rod ends. It's not the car's my daily or anything, but I sure do drive it more than my truck... not sure how long those exposed rod ends would last and how much it would cost to replace them.

                      Rod ends are reasonably cheap so once they start to have play in them just replace them. Idk which bearings they use so one can only guess as to how long they will last... but if you are concerned about them being exposed you could look into buying some boots. McMaster sells boots I believe, and they have a huge array of rod ends of different capabilities.

                      Also, please let me know if you get those measurements because I've been looking for the same info.
