It needed it when I bought it. Everything has less than 10k miles on it! (Ctrl arms, CABs, tie rods, sway bar bushings and links)

What about the shocks, trailing arm and subframe bushings?
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Rear shocks have 5000, gonna do bushings this month. Think that may be related?

On a different note, the shake is more intense when turning slightly at high speed. The connection to braking I identified earlier doesn't seem to be present anymore. The steering geometry has gone off a bit, the wheel is now turned left slightly when going straight.

I do get a slight synchronous shake in the seat on occasion. I was thinking csb, but it's barely got 2000 on it (as does guibp).

I'm going to see if I can test the inner tie rods this weekend.

There is a little bit of play when shaking wheels at 3 and 9 o'colck, but it is transmitted to the steering wheel, even when locked. The vibration has become more intermittent now, but is more noticeable on high-speed turns. Replaced sway bar bushings yesterday, marginal improvement.

Will check. In the middle of dropping the subframe now. Canadian car=lots of rusty bolts=check back in many days.

was there any update to this problem?
                running into the same issues.

                Thanks

I'm having similar issues, pretty sure it's because I forgot to line up the driveshaft markings.

I took the car out of storage last week and drove it 350 miles on the highway back home. The shake was present between 65-75 mph only, and it was mostly present from the rear (seats), not so much in the wheel anymore. It isn't affected by turns or braking at all, and the car tracks straight. I am hugely confused by this moving vibration.

I have a similar issue with lots of shake in the wheel at speed. I've replaced much of the front end but not the front upper shock mount - Is this something that could cause a 65-80mph vibration if it's gone bad?

was trying to chase down a similar prob for yrs.....replaced almost every suspension part. Intermittent vibration, loose steering, u name it. Finally had a PROPER alignment done, and fixed everything. Car was tracking straight before it, but the alignment made ALL the difference. Now the car is tight, no weird vibrations at varying speeds.

yes, the bearing could have enough play in it to allow movement of the strut housing, creating vibrations.

It is usually an alignment issue (toe) or wheel balancing/wheel hubcentric issues.

Drove it about 1000kms since taking it out of storage, and the vibration has gotten very specific. It's fine until exactly 104 kph, then vibrates bad until 118 kph. Anything above that is fine. Vibration is gone from the rear, it's only in the wheel now.

The strange thing is that it doesn't shake nearly as much when decelerating through that range.

Hey TSI did you ever figure this out? I have the exact same issues with all new parts. New shocks, shock mounts, springs, brake rotors, brake pads, new tie rods, control arms, m3 control arm bushings, new wheels, new tires, 15mm hubcentric spacers. The problem was there before the spacer install. Wheel bearings aren't new, but they don't make noise and I don't have any other driveability problems.

I've never had my car professionally aligned, I did it with strings. I have not done another alignment since the new wheels.
