Rear trailing arm tethers / limiting straps?

So, when you go to full extension over a hill the cable unscrews your shock bolt ?

Lol, valid point. But, that cable is about 1" from the shock bolt, and not horizontal either. So if that bolt is at 60 ft lbs, it would take what, 700+lbs of weight on the rear trailing arm to spin the bolt loose? The load rating of the cable is 340lbs, with those clamps probably more like 250-300 lbs. I have the cable adjusted so that the spring is actually loose in the perches, so there is only the weight of the trailing arm on it, not the spring pressure. In order to get that thing tight while driving, I'd basically have to ramp the car, and even then, I doubt the trailing arm will be shooting down with 700+lbs of force.

That said, it is a valid point, and I'll probably do something about it.

This is why Bilstein has 2 different shocks for the E30. Get the right one the first time.

seemed like an okay idea so i gave it a go. havnt driven much but dont see any problems with it yet.

made it long enough so when the car is in the air the rear spring is held in just enough so it wont fall out.

I know this thread is old AF, but for anyone doing this, the eyelet above the shock mount is not optimal. It will tear right out.

I have 650lb 4" springs and billy sports, very stiff sway bar. Both eyelets tore out in short order. I took some 1/8" steel and plug welded it where the old eyelet was. Works a treat
