Rear shocks in 'bind' from IE solid shock mount?

So I have installed rear shocks before but never solid shock mounts.

I installed solid IE shock mounts on my e30 and when I bolted the bottom of the shock, I had to force the shock to lineup with the trailing arm.

I know it will unbind some once I drop the car off, but is this bad or normal?

Is it ok to leave it like this while the car is up, or should I unbolt the bottom of the shock every time?

Absolutely normal for bushing style mounts. You won't have any problems.

Ran IE RSMs for 3 years or more now, never experienced an issue once it was bolted up.

Only removed them for GC RSMs so it would match the front

WHen the suspension compresses it will swing back into line. The wheel swings forward as the arm drops. Don't forget you can't tighten the bottom bolt until the suspension is compressed with the car at ride height. The rubber bushing in the shock will twist and tear if you tighten it with the car in the air.

Never read that before.. So I finger tighten it and then torque once it is on the ground?

As long as the sleeve can spin freely until the car is at ride height.
