This is what the loca tire shop suggested.

So, since I am running Vogtland springs I have camber problems in the front. To solve this issue the MAIN TECHNICIAN/MECHANIC suggest that I bore out the strut mount holes.... Is that nuts? And a terrible idea....

It doesn't matter. I only bought these to hold me over for some BCs.

Just thought I should share this for more input if this is actually as bad as it seems.

I mean, it's been done plenty of times on race cars but at that point I'd just drill a second set of holes.

Or buy camber plates, which would be best.

It just seemed a little botchy to go about that. I have seen it done as well. I don't imagine that would be legal across the boards...

I was going to buy some 'floating' style but decided I need MOAR stiffness.

Better idea is to get some adjustable camber plates. May cost more than drilling holes, but no worries about the stress on a strut tower that wasn't designed for new holes.

I will be buying some BC coils as soon as I can fund it....

I had no plans to actually drill it. Just thought it was amusing to hear a shop suggest something like this.

I mean, it is botchy but I'd be surprised if it failed (if done correctly). I still 100% suggest camber plates, but for the record it can be done. Before getting plates, we ran the Cortina on a second set of holes drilled probably 30 years earlier for SCCA competition and those towers are completely fine.

I wouldn't worry about strength, but nobody is going to look at holes drilled in your strut towers and thinkg "gee, the rest of that car must be put together nicely".

Then again, they probably won't think much of BC coils either. ;)

I drilled a second pattern of holes in my IX to run different upper strut mounts. No problems in 10k+ miles. 3 extra holes aren't going to hurt anything.

Now if you slotted the current holes, that's where it gets sketchy.

That's true, I walk away from a car so fast. I guess it's not as bad as I thought, I have seen it done before though. If on a GRM challenge car, sure all day long.

Dat bang for buck though. I don't plan to sell the Delphi, ever. We will become one with a tree one day. I have also seen many many people use BC coils and be happy.

Yeah, that was the suggestion. I guess since the pattern is a bit obtuse.
