Best place to go to get NLA bolts is a place like fastenal, they will always likely have it in stock, of high quality and only marginally more expensive (when we are talking about bolts that means only more expensive by a few cents).
I know for a fact the local BMW dealership here goes to fastenal for their NLA or quick turn around bolts. I have seen the techs in there on multiple occasions.Leave a comment:

You can also just get a longer bolt and a big washer, put the washer on the inside and draw
the sleeve back into the shock eye with the bolt. You might have to stop and add a stack
of 'spacer' washers once or twice so the longer bolt doesn't bottom out.

Use a C clamp or take the shock off and put it in a vise to reinstall the sleeve.
I also hope you're not installing some Chineseium bolt, although this isn't the most critical of bolt points on the car by far.Leave a comment:

I would be weary of hardware store bolts....unless you choose the grade of the bolt correctly, you could be putting in a substantially weaker bolt.Leave a comment:

tried greasing it up and hitting it w a mallet but it wants to stay put - any tips on getting it back in there?
