    Where to get special tool?

I need the tool that tightens the lock collar to the strut housing that holds the shock in the strut. I know you can use channel locks but I would rather have the right tool. Anyone know where I could find one?

I am just afraid it will back off though. Loctite it as well?

pipe wrench works fine. if you get it on there tight with a pipe wrench, I doubt it would ever come apart. not sure if I'd use loctite on that either, as they already have a tendancy to seize making future repairs pretty difficult.

however if you really want the tool, you could try your local autozone or maybe a tire shop. some of them might have one for rent.

Pipe wrench is what we use at the dealer. I don't see a problem with using lock tite on the threads, but its really not necessary if you tighten that nut down properly

                  Yeah, big fucking pipe wrench.

I found this place a while back that had some cool tools, not related to this particular case though, but still useful.

I have the proper (authentic BMW dealership) tool. It's nearly useless.

I have the tool that came with my Bilsteins. It's worthless. Channel locks are the best.
