negative camber tires...

    SO the tread of the tire hits the ground level and you think there will be worse issues?

    The tire will wear evenly, the contact patch will remain consistent.

    This idea has been bandied about for years, finally someone has done something about it.

        Eh, there will be constant scrubbing due to the rolling diameter differential, but it will be interesting to see the effects it will have on handling, seeing as how camber's entire purpose is to give an even contact patch when the sidewall rolls over in a corner.

        Of course, if you're running 8 degrees of camber it isn't very functional handling-wise anyway. I always thought excessive camber looked retarded.

            For those who didn't watch the video, the guy was saying they set the suspension to 1-2 degrees more camber then the tire has and then set the toe to be 1-2 degrees NEGATIVE as the natural scrubbing of the tire's shape allows you to remove any positive toe you would normally have. This creates better turn in, which is a good thing.

            I think it seems like a good idea on paper, but I'm not convinced it is any better in practice. But I'm not exactly a tire expert, so...

              I'm thinking this will be a flop. There is only a limited amount of potential buyers who would even need/want this type of tire. I'm also going to bet that the price will be extreme to compensate for the small demographic target. It's like shooting yourself in the foot so you can't feel the first shot you fired.

                Are you sure? Here in FL, tons of cars are dropped and have a but-load of neg camber because everyone thinks it's cool to cut springs and tuck - just have no idea why I laugh at them when the are FWD...

                Correcting the camber is awesome, just did a correction kit on a friend's car, an WOW, it makes the tires look even MORE tucked lol. Can't wait to take my subframe out to fix the mounts and camber :(

                  I agree that it is a trend which many participate in, but the people who are doing that don't care to gain contact patch or correct their camber. They want the camber and like the look. Performance scene would be the only logical target for this product. Most of the guys who run the crazy camber want a stretched tire and a little lift. It would be interesting to see what this tire looked like stretched. . . .it might even be a safety hazard if installed that way.

                    Finally watched the video, seems more legit than I initially thought. The guy knows his shit and the test didn't seem too unfair, although it was kind of lame.

                      I didn't watch the video but I think wheelhop's first reaction is still correct. I don't care what you do with your caster, camber or toe. A cone shaped tire will always want to roll in a circle. OK, fine - I'll watch the video later....

                      In the mean time, grab a piece of paper, roll it into a cone, and then tape it. Now roll that on a table. Push on that paper how ever you want - It's going to go in circles. Push on that paper how ever you want -

                            Jalopnik did a piece on this a few weeks ago, seems like a solid idea if he can get the idea and production off the ground:

                              The video was kinda a long infomercial. I'd be interested to know how much force a normal toe in gives vs this tire.

                                Pretty much, but at the very least he wasn't spouting total BS--he knew what he was talking about, and the toe-out/conicity does kind of go hand-in-hand. Honestly, I kind of expected some guy showing some car with 45 degree camber and saying that these are the solution to your mad tyte camber tire wear woes. So that was promising. But the "trial" was pretty lame. I was hoping to see some lap times at least, not some tard driving around commenting on how nice the ride is.
