how long have you been racing? Stock brakes are very good, spece30 runs stock and they do just fine. If you go 5 lug you going with e30 m3 or e36?

stay 4 lug, get 15x8 or 15x7.5 and you will do just fine. Unless you have been racing for years and at the limit.

Ya makes sense. Another question in that case for those of you that have e30 track cars:

An M50 will not need anywhere NEAR that much tire.

A 225/45/15 in a Toyo R1R on a nice 15x8 should be plenty. And once you feel the need for serious track rubber, there are plenty of options in 15" that will perfectly suit the E30.

Well my brother has 255 starspecs on his e36 and i love the way the car handles and has plenty of pull.

I am putting an m50 in the e30 so i think i can compromise some power for grip

255 tire? Do you have such a big and powerfull engine that you can afford wasting power on rolling resistance? Really? Or is that the "in" thing to do.

Thanks for the help guys, was hoping to be able to use dunlop starspecs 255's which only come in 17 sizes. I know a lot of people who use these tires and say they are by far the best street tire on the market, so im trying to go as wide as i can!

A couple options out there though so i will keep looking.

there are lots. Kumho, Toyo, Falken, Hankook, Dunlop.. Hoosier.. ;)

there are definitely custom multi peice wheels that could be in 17x9, 4x100, but they will be very expensive. Any of the standard off the shelf 17" wheels will be heavy.

Why not some cheap, light and strong 15" wheels with the appropriate rubber? even the lightest 17" wheel is going to be heavier than the average 15" race wheel.

Hey guys
Ive done a ton of research and can't seem to find what i am looking for. I am trying to find 17x9 wheels in 4x100 that are lightweight.

I am slowly building an e30 track car and do not want to run uber R's immediately which is the reason for 17's. So that i can put wide street tires on them.

Another option is to do the 5 lug conversion to get a wider veriety of wheels but is it worth doing the conversion on a track car or should i stick with the 4 lugs?

Any info is greatly appreciated.
