how to clean weaves - both chromed and black enameled ones

Hi. Recently bought these wheels from a fellow board member. How can I recondition them.

    1) the one black wheel needs touch up. Apparently it was painted black with Engine Enamel. How do I touch it up, as well as clean it and the others?

    2) I tried to clean these weaves and area inside that is not chromed is nasty it shines yellow in these pics, but is more like black...what is the best way to clean them without taking the pain or chrome off?

I am out of alloy wheel cleaner anyway and I need to get some so its a good time to ask...

    Thks Marvin

Get yourself a nice wheel brush with long bristles.

if you repaint the black one or paint the silvers leave the lip silver. It looks great.

Yeah I like the silver myself. Some people are saying BavAuto has some kind of Wurth silver paint - will look into that. On the silver one, in between the weaves, it really is quite nasty - it's not brake dust, its either corroded or something good. May need to ask in the auto detailing forums also..

Been there...done that. Careful if its got a sharp stream setting on the nozzle, you'll take the finish right off.

Another cleaning agent: Castrol Superclean. Be sure to use gloves!!!

I will second that motion of Castrol Superclean. WalMart is a good source for the gallon size. Do NOT attempt to use the driveway cleaner.

                  P21S and Mother wheel cleaner.

                  P21S is amazing.

The finish on my wheels is coming off. How do I re-finish them?

Sorry for thread jacking, I don't want to waste bandwith/storage.

i tried the paint brush, eagle1 wheel cleaner, pressure washer and good ol fashion washing glove and i still can't get in between the cracks. i took my wheels off to inspect the brakes and notice the owner before me carved what wheel goes where on the inside of the rim. plus there is major scratches and areas where there is no finish on the rim....bah..time to spend more money which i'm running out of.

I use a microfiber towel and soapy water. no problems getting the corners at all.. I would never wash my wheels with superclean or any other harsh chemicals, you're only going to damage the finish. also, if you wax them, and clean them every couple weeks they are much easier to maintain.

All you people that use all purpose cleaners on your wheels are killing the finish. It might get all the dirt and brake dust off, but it is taking the finish with it.

simple green has been proven to be non-abrasive to finishes.
