These look sooo good, that i need to do this. I´ve been looking for the "right" set of wheels but nothing has convinced me until now.

So just to clarify, all that was done was the fill and drill and the face milled flat?

i've heard the 16" are more like 22-23Lbs, which has been a deterrent for me putting them on the 318is. :(

spanish pants, that is correct plus painted.

Lee22, look at it this way if the Style 5s are that much in weight, how much do you think a BBS RS, Hartge or OZ 2 or 3 piece wheel weigh? One of the factors I considered with my wheel/design choice.

^ i'm using 5mm spacers all around, with a few mm of caliper grinding. same result if i used a thicker spacer but didn't want to

Do you mean the style 5 16s on the E28 M5/M3 EVO weigh a pound less a corner?

Im assuming the E38 style 5s are the Fundo?

                      Just making sure I understand!

Do you have those other wheel weights for comparison? I have been looking for the weights for multi piece OZ. Anyone know the weight of the ACT/Ronal LS 16" wheel?

I believe the BBS RS in 16 is about 16lbs. Obviously different wheel widths add weight. The split rims are usually weigh much less than single piece cast wheels.

^ may be the other way around. my original E39 17/7.5 Style 5s were a little over 30lbs with inflated tires. The 16" RS' I can't imagine being that much less, however don't quote me as I would have to check to be sure.

The style 5 two piece wheels are heavier than your average 3pc. The advantage of a 3pc is the lips/barrels can be made of a stronger/thinner/lighter material to shave weight.

The split style 5s are more like single piece units and the split lip is for looks mostly. They ate still constrained by material flow in the mold, and material to use, so many parts have more material than necessary adding weight.

I saw some ACT 3pc 16" mesh wheels weighed about 17lb for comparison. Still trying to find what the one piece weighs, but my guess would be about 19-20lb.

Hopefully an expert chimes in :)

That's good info ^ a friend of mine commented on the RS weight he bought this past weekend being surprisingly light which i didn't know. Shouldn't really be surprised since those wheels were used in Motorsport racing.

As an update to the strength of the machined/redrilled Style 5s and its relative center thickness, i've driven relatively fast (110+) cornered hard and stopped just as hard without any issues.
