I do have 225 50 15 on one of my cars but they look too big.
thanks Greg for the info. :)

what do you mean, "look too big" ? The tires, the wheels?

On my car I think they look to big but that's just personal perferace. The one car has 225 50 15 in the rear and 215 50 15 in front. I like the 215 but the 225 are too big for a street car. But they fit the 8" wide wheels perfect.

so you'd suggest a 215 wide tire instead on the euro baskets?

well, 205/50 would be undersized, and inaccurate for mph.
215/50 would be better, while 225/50 is near perfect.

just for clarification, how are they "big"? do they look too wide, or the sidewalls too tall? I'm just trying to visualize how they look.

            thanks

I think those tires are undersized. if you look at the ix, it's running 205/55-15 (factory ix size). the other car's wheels look bigger because the tires are smaller, which also probably explains at least some of his fender gap in the front.

edit: I'm talking about the black mtech-II car btw

yeah the shorter the sidewall, the visually larger the wheel.

I want to consult the local autocross guys here on what tire they'd recommend. Either normal 205/55, 205/50, 215/50, or 225/50. I'm pretty sure all are available in Yoko ES100's.

Robert, it sounds like we have very similar plans for our cars. A lot of parts you are planning to do or already have I either have them on order or sitting here in my basement waiting for the snow to melt. Funny that they are the same year, model, and color too. What was your build date?
Sorry about passing over your post earlier, I missed it.

Hopefully the cars won't be the exact same. You could always keep your IS lip red, and I could get a black one. And maybe you tune your suspension to be raked, and I'll be completely slammed. ;)

Well at least they're 5 months apart. ;) Mine will always be red, and my car won't be too slammed.

There's no way those are 15's.

thanks for the pics, dork ;)

My mom comes to my autocrosses and screams on every turn. One time I aimed right for her, and turned at the last moment! :P That story is completely false

Those wheels w/ center caps look as good as your bling bling 17".

Ronal ACT-LS right? what tire size?

Yes indeedy. Ronal ACT with the spacer and the rounded lip. (Ronal did three styles of the ACT - rounded lip, squared lip, and one with the fatty lip as seen in the pic below).

I'm running 205/50 15 falken azenis sports. I'm planning on running the AVS ES100's in 225/50 next time in need some rubber.

Cool, I'm planning on 225/50 on Euro baskets, unless someone can convince me otherwise. From what I've been reading, 225's are tightness.
