I currently have Yokohama AVS ES100s on my E28...
I don't know if it's just my alignment (I have checked and adjusted once or twice, but I still need to get her in to have it done right), but these tires tramline like fucking crazy. I think it mostly has to do with the directional design of the tires, because both my previous 6 and my dad's current 6 tramlined bad with directional 16's as well. We solved it in both cases by swapping out the front tires for a size smaller - 205/55/16 instead of 225/50/16 - and it helped dramatically. I think I'm gonna do that with my 5, but instead I'll just go with 245s out back since they are 8 inch wheels and 205s will look a little small...
Other than the tramlining, they are good street tires. Plenty of grip for my inadequate M30B32, they ride decent with my Bilstein Sport / H&R Sport combo, and they have greatly exceeded their expected mileage so far.Leave a comment:

BFG KDW's 215/45/17...i haven't auto-x'd the car yet, but they kick ass in the canyons. i want 225s next if i can fit them. my buddy runs toyo ra1s on his evo and he loves them, it's all he buys. i think they r a little pricey but definitely a good tire :bow:Leave a comment:

-Kumho Ecsta SPT
-205/55/15
-$61 each (tirerack.com)
-driven on for about 1000 miles with 1 autox event. they offer loads of grip for the money. could be stickier, but l would buy them again in the future because of price. the only thing that i dont like about them is the super weak sidewalls. i run them at >43psi on the street and they still fold over if i take turns too hard. that is why i probably will go for somthing like an Azenis or RS-2 tire next.Leave a comment:

BFGoodrich Traction T/A H. Fits your needs perfectly.Hi,
Looking for a stock 195/65r14 three season tire for my IS. I have a set of studded snows so the tires will not see winter/snow ever. I want something SAFE, good in the wet, QUIET, reasonably priced and something that will last FOREVER.
I don't need a $200/each tire - simply something that is a good, solid tire that will last a while.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
TJWLeave a comment:

I would look into the BFG G-Force Sports. I have a couple friends with them and love them.Leave a comment:

Sorry... I meant that I don't need something chewing gum soft that lasts 20K miles.
maybe I'll just have better luck buying any old random Michelin or whatever 4-season radial. The car just needs shoes to get around town in... not to be flashy or show off....Leave a comment:

I don't think it's possible to have a tire that will last FOREVER and give you anything but HARD Compound....you have to sacrifice something.Leave a comment:

So what is the latest on Toyo T1-R, good or bad? With track use in mind.Leave a comment:

I wish they made them in 15", would love to try themGoodyear F1 GS-D3s
215/40-17
Tirerack - special at the time -$380 shipped
Love them. I drive daily, no auto-x, or track, but I do drive hard on the street and these things stick very, very well. Dry traction has been incredible, beyond the limits of the suspension for sure. Wet weather traction has also been excellent. Road noise is a bit more than I would like, but I usually have something going on the Alpine, so it doesn't bother me. It's not loud mind you, just more than what I would like.
The only real question remaining is how will the last. I've only had them for ~3K miles so I can't say yet, but they do seem to be wearing well.Leave a comment:

Falken ZE-512.looking for some tires for my bottlecaps as I have some cupping issues on my current ones.
Just need a good, quiet all season tire, and it'd help if they were decent in the snow. So far, I've gotten quotes for $370 for some Yokohamas, $320 for some Uniroyal Tiger Paw Touring, and $280 for some BF-Goodrich primera.
