After a week - I like them so far. A little quieter than the RE950 Potenzas and they seem to have the same amount of dry grip in street driving. Haven't hit any snow or real rain yet.

on sale now, I keep hearing quite a few auto X guys recommending these if you can't afford R compounds.

225's will be a lot more rubber on the car for increased grip, forward and laterally --- but it will also be a heavier tire to sling around than a 205, so you will suffer the effects of increased rotational mass.

That being said, at track days, you'll generally see the serious dudes running 225/50's.

hmm, makes me wonder if i could rock a 215/45-16 and be undersized not to rub....
Your wheels are 16x7 ET25, IIRC. You can get a 225/45/16 on those without ANY rubbing. Get some R-S2's in that size and enjoy.

    Street:
    Tire: Kumho 732 Touring
    Size: 195/60-14
Price: Something like $40 apiece @ local tire place
Comments: Great street tires, got a set on the 325i auto that have been on for about 10k miles, minimal treadwear. Very little noise, great wet and dry traction (for what they are). Also decent traction in snow/slushy conditions.

    Auto-x:
    Tire: Falken Azenis RT-215
    Size: 195/60-14
Price: $47 apiece @ Vulcan Tire
Comments: Awesome dry traction. Can't comment on anything else because I haven't driven them outside of an autocross course.

    Thanks,
Well, I did just mention that Skip Barber uses them on their cars, which is exclusively track duty. If they weren't up to par, they wouldn't have switched from KD's anyway.

I've also read good reviews on them regarding track useage elsewhere. Plus, if it makes you feel better, it's the same compound as a European BFG tire, which is designed with autobahn running in mind. Most sporty European-market tires HAVE to be up to high temperature standards.

all season/winter... i use Bridgestone Potenza RE950 in 195/60/14. had them for about a year, bought at Costco for ~70 something per tire (there was a discount at the time as well). For an allseason, they have great dry grip and are quiet, and breakaway is smooth and controllable for the most part. Wet is even better, i have not gotten these to hydroplane at ALL, and they track great in snow too. Wear is excellent, probably 8-10k miles and still seem to have lots of tread left. I'd definitely buy again.

summer... so far i've used Pirelli PZero Rosso asymmetricals in 205/50/16... picked 'em up at tire rack with my ASAs, they were $89 each on sale. They offer plenty of dry grip, and rain tracking is pretty good (though not as good as the 950s). However, after only 5-6 mos of use, and probably 6000 mi at most, the rears are SHOT. I don't do burnouts, and i dont drift, but these are down to the wear bars. i also can't attribute it to camber wear as they wore evenly across the whole contact patch. The fronts are showing probably 30-40% worn even in that short time. here's a pic, rear and front as they are now. For the price there are way better tires out there.

Okay, so now you edited it to say current. Would have been made more sense to just own up to asking the same question twice, but okay.

S-03's. These are probably way out of your expect price league though, so get the G-Force Sports. Lots of guys like them for auto-x, good feedback to learn with. Skip Barber uses them for on-track driver training, btw.

i got some bfg's traction t/a H on bottle caps 195 65 14. there way better than my pirelles p400 i had. they are real nice in the snow and on dry pave ment. id definly buy them again for nasty season tires.

i got a set of 15 x 7 wheels. i wanna run 225/55/15 on them what do you guys think. im thinking of getting some bfg's G-force sports. seem like good tire for the money. but they come in 225/50/15 or 225/60/15. 60 just seems way to tall.
