I also have 195/50/16 Yoko's Advan a048 on 16x8 e28 weaves. These are still pretty sticky on dry with about %50 thread left. Not so on wet. These tires though are very noisy.

I have the Falken 452 and I love them.
I paid $99 each January 22nd from vulcan tire (I see they are $101 now). I have yet to push them really hard, but they have been great around town and are very quiet at any speed. They balanced out well and I get no vibration.

Celica is currently on 195/55/15 Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Specs. Getting near the end of their life, and grip is still fantastic, considering they get daily driven and autocrossed regularly. Would like them wider but that's the only 15" size they make; still performs better than the ludicrously wide 205 Azenis I had.

318i will soon be getting 225/45/15 Toyo R1Rs. Crappy set though...they got shaved and then subsequently roasted at a national event...really ugly/nasty wear patterns. They're really soft and apparently don't like high pressures. Not sure how well that set is going to work for me given its disfiguration, but I'll be sure to let you guys know after I try them. They're currently the hot tire in a few of the Solo street tire classes.

Neither tire is recommended if you like quiet, comfortable, long-lasting tires. ;)

              Advice?

I just scored a pair of genuine 15" RS-047's from a friend. Straight barrels with a bit of rash for $0.00. You got it, nada. He was going to take these to be recycled!

With that said, I believe its a no-brainer to restore these bad boys (Gold centers & bolts). I am thinking 2" lips from BFI and 5mm spacers.

              This fitment will work. Correct?

              TIA,

              Joe

215/40/17 Michelin PE2s are awesome! I was expecting too firm, too bumpy, to twitchy, but they've met and exceeded my expections. Mystical's recommendation was spot on, I love these tires.

The current replacement would be either the RE050PP or the RE-11. Both are excellent.

I just bought a set too. I haven't pushed them hard yet, but I have driven them in the rain and they felt really solid. Although I think anything is an improvement when you are switching from bald snows.

Best High Performance Tire for Baskets

I will soon be looking for new tires for my e30 and was starting my research as to what you guys think are the best tires for Basketweaves, what size you would run, and why? No R-Compounds...

                            My criteria for tires are
                            1) Dry Grip
                            2) Cornering
                            3) Autocrossability (added to Websters this year)
                            4) Wet Grip
                            5) Longevity
                            6) Road Noise
                            7) Looks
                            8) Price

Falken RT-615. I don't think anything else in that class is available in 14" anymore...

THe only other ones I found are the Yoko AVS ES100's. I dont think they are as good as the Falken's, but are pretty much the only other decent tire out there..
