      if they are ET20, 205/40 may work, but that's a pretty weak tire size, and it will still rub if you lower the car at all (17" wheels will look pretty dorky at stock ix ride height).

                        Not really. Et25 is about the minimum for a 15x7, and even that has slight rubbing issues.

                          Ok I know we've been thru a couple of these but I finally found a wheel im happy with and I think it should fit l. Please say it will work. 16x7 et35 privat remember

                              Has anyone ran a 17 x 8.5 ET40? Is 8.5 too wide? Would I be able to put a 5mm spacer on my IX?

                                you could maybe fit an 8.5 but definitely not with an offset of ET40. It wouldn't even bolt up because the wheel will clash with the struts and springs. You'd probably need an offset around ET20, and it's going to poke and look pretty ugly IMO. plus a 17x8.5 is going to be heavy.
