The rim is protected by the tire still... it is not pulled inward. tire is not stretched. tire size is perfectly suitable for the wheel width.

    and 205s look fine

don't look particularly wimpy to me. 205-50-16 on a 7.5" wheel, on top of a 205-60-15 tire on a 7" wheel. um, those were `6" es100 and 15" yoko avid yk420s or H4s or something

    edit: listen to the sandman!

get a meaty 205 and save $ from throwing down stupidly for a 225
and have less drag from a wider tire
    and better mpg
and not worry about rubbing issues

hell, i'm gonna run 205s on my Rotas... ;)

Besides, I'm too lazy to search.

um those are "rim protectors". certain tires have that protruding lip built in. has nothing to do with stretching, biatch.

Maybe these tires have them, maybe not... but we'd never know on this car. The sidewall is about 10 fucking inches away from the rim.

A 205-50-16 ES100 tread is 7.5 inches wide. Don't worry about it being stretched.

Get the BFG's in 205/50. stay away from ES100s, especially since you live in a place where it rains.

I think ES100s do fine/good in the rain.

                  But stay away regardless.

If you were happy with the Kumho 711's on your last wheels...anything will feel like fly paper. I think the only worse tire would be the HTR Z's you posted.

You could listen to Heeter over there and get 205's, but I'd still run 225's. There's no denying the extra contact patch will aid in braking, and sometimes the 3ft saved will save your car.

I've been thinking of trying Nexen N3000's in 225/45/16. I've heard good things about them, particularly for the price. You can get a set off ebay for $290 shipped.

Alright, so right now, it's between these:

                        In 225/45/16:

                        Kumho Ecsta 712 - $86 each
                        Hankook Ventus R-S2 Z212 - $99 each
                        Falken Ziex ZE-512 - $96 each

                        In 205/50/16:
                        BF Goodrich G-Force Sport - $70 each

But at the same time, I also haven't gone around town to see what I can find here. Because while these prices are good, they don't include mounting/balancing. A local place will have that included in their price. Sears here is also a Kumho and Falken dealer.

If it helps, I just got the BF-Gs (215 50 15) and I really like them... having said that, I'm still breaking them in...

FYI, my 205/45R16 look slightly streched on a 7.5 inch rim. Pisses me right off.

if you are seriously on a budget josh, the $70 BFGs will be very nice. otherwise I would personally pick the Hankooks out of the other three.

and of course 205/45 would look bad, the sidewalls are too short. I also had 7.5" wheels with 205/50s, and it definitely wasn't stretched. the BFGs have really wide sidewalls anyway, I'd be very surprised if you ended up thinking they looked stretched. really the only drawback to them is the soft sidewall, but it makes for a pretty comfy street tire.

Yup, I'm going for the 205/50 G-Force Sports. 225 would be a nice width, but 45 is too short of a sidewall. With some of the roads around here, more sidewall is nice to protect the rims from potholes, etc, and they'll also fill the wheel wells a little more.
