Please Help with Schmidt TH Lines Sizes

    Hi there,

I have been trying to find the perfect size Schmidt TH Lines wheel. I know I want a 16", but I don't want a crazy amount of tire stretch, some is fine.

It seems like tunershop.com offers 5 sizes in the 16".

    • 7.5" (et 36 or 26)
    • 8.0" (et 30 or 20)
    • 8.5" (et 24 or 14)
    • 9.0"
    • 9.5"

My initial thought is to go either:
    Staggered 7.5" and 8.5"
    or
    Square 8.0"

My question is, what are the best offsets for these sizes. I will admit that I do like a small amount of stretch, but nothing detrimental to my driving.

This picture below shows about the MAX amount of stretch I am comfortable with.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as these wheels are a little too expensive to mess up. Thanks!

Sorry, I guess this should have been posted in the wheel/tire size sticky up above. Moderators, please move if you would like. Thanks.

      I would go square 16x8 ET20 with 205/50, or 215/45 when available.

A 205 is a bit stretched on an 8" wide rim. That's what I have on the front of my e36, 205/40/18. The 235/45/18 in the back looks squared up. I used to run 245/40/18 on my rx8 and that looked a bit beefy.

            Not really.

These are 16x8 ET20 with 205/50s on H&R Race. OP, this setup clears everything with the front fenders rolled. IIRC it will clear late model rear arches, too.

            I really miss this car.

I have run 16x9, et15, 4x100, cb 57.1, Schmidt Modernline Revolutions wrapped in 225/45/16. There is no rub lock to lock, no fender roll, no spacers. I am lowered on H&R sports with short Koni's. It is considered a sqaure set up. 225/45/16 is an extremely hard tire to find. Dunlops are out there but expensive. I suggest Nexen because of price and imo good wear. IMHO 16's are the best setup for E30, not too big, very little stretch, and a good meaty look. It depends on your taste and what you have planned for the car.

A good staggered set up would be 16x9 rears with 225/45/16, but fronts could run 16x8,
              et 20. Tire size 205/50/16 or 215/45/16.

              Hope this helps.................... Cheers!...................... G.
