Having brake clearance issues with e38 style 5s

Okay dudes I got a set of style 5s redrilled and the rears fit awesome but I'm having some issues with the front. The anti rattle clip seems to be interfering with the back of the wheel. This is with 5mm spacers it doesn't seem like it will require much to them fit. I just need to know where to remove some material

You can shave down the part on the brake where it's rubbing without ill effect.
Why not run a bigger spacer? Your doesn't seem that low so you should be fine on an 8" x et23

Okay I just didn't want to remove a bit more metal there and have my brakes explode. One of my friends is seeing if he has an 8mm spacer set around

You can cut that bracket off completely and still be fine.
Stack the 5mm on the 8mm if you're lugs are long enough.

I think the 8mm will fit. I had to thin out part of the bracket a bit but that bar is still about 10mm thick so I think it will be fine. I haft to do the same to the other side tomorrow.

I'd manually measure your offset, my guess is the machinist took a bit off the backside to make a nice smooth finish. You might get away with a 10 or 12mm spacers just fine.

I had the same issue and used 12mm spacers to make it work.

Just a note, 10mm spacers won't work properly on a an e30. They aren't thick enough to be hubcentric, but are too thick to allow enough hub to stick into the wheel to locate it. There are 12mm hubcentric spacers, but 15mm is more common. Stacking your 5mm and 8mm spacers is a bad idea because the wheel will not locate on the hub, only via the lugs and will cause balancing issues.

Motorsport hardware has some spacers that are 10 mm and have hub extensions. I have 57mm studs so I should be fine. I'm gonna try clamping the two 5mms I have together and putting the car on the ground tomorrow to see if that will fit.

So this is where it sits with 10mm it seems like it clears fine at least going up and down my driveway and turning the wheels back and forth

Turning the wheel and going up and down won't change the relationship between the wheel and the brake caliper bracket that is fixed to the strut.

Yeah i get that, but i was concerned it wouldn't clear the arches with the 10mm spacers, thats what i was trying to see if i would have rubbing issues.

completley removing or shaving the bracket down wil have no effect on the caliper ?

Im kinda going through the same issues (but not style 5's)

the back of the rim is hitting the same exact caliper bracket, but im not sure i can use spacers as the rim is already sticking out. Cutting off or shaving the bracket down would sove my problem, but was worried about its function.

some calipers do not have that little bracket at all. but you modify your calipers at your own risk, obviously.
