Paint removal on old wheels?

Where gloves and a mask when using it will seriously burn your air passages ask me how i know. Make sure gloves ARE NOT nitrile based or it will react with the nitrile and burn you hands. Again ask me how i know. Its nasty shit but the best.
Fyi ive used this on my OZ turbos and countless other painted parts. Does no harm to aluminum.Leave a comment:

i once made the mistake of getting a set of wheels sandblasted. the pitting was horrendous. maybe glass beading or walnut shelling would be ok.Leave a comment:

Paint removal on old wheels?
I purchased a set of wheels a year ago., hadn't bothered with them until recently.
So I tried to give the refurbishing a go on my own but, I'm now stuck with what looks to be 3-4 coats of paint, and the final coat being a ceramic, porous type of primer, that just won't give up easily.
I had another friend with some time and skills, attempt to remove the paint and said, he tried aircraft stripper in a can and it only removed 1 coat of paint. Next, he tried varnish/paint remover and still ended up with poor results, only to give the wheels a dull look.
The wheels look like this at the moment and, I'm afraid of using something that is just going to ruin the aluminium underneath. So I'm wondering what any of you have used to get difficult finishes off wheels?
Thank you in advance for your help.
