If the wheels were originally 15x6.5 et33(is that right?) and you widened the outer lips 2inches then the offset would be alot lower, like et8
I've been running them with no problem. Maybe I'm just lucky?

Because they arent et33 anymore. By widening them, the offset was changed to et8

It's pnly widening the outer lip tho. Not the original inner offset. My rm's are also 33et. 15x6.5. 215/45/15. No rub there either.

I'm not saying your wrong. I'm just undereducated with wheel offset and clearance issues, so I'm just trying to get this right in my own head.

exactly. that is why the offset changes.

I was thinking offset was measured from the inside lip to the hub.

it's measured from the hub surface to the centerline of the wheel.

that's backspacing. your backspacing did not change, but the offset did.

Yup, widened wheels' offsets are changed 1/2 of how much they are widened.

                      15x6.5" ET33
                      =
                      15x8.5" ET8 (2" = 51mm, 51mm/2 = 25.5mm, ET33-25mm = ET8 )

What if you didn't widen each side of the wheel equally? Then what?

For example, you add two inches to the front, but only one inch to the rear.

Although your example uses the right concept, there is the common chance someone won't add to both sides equally.

I know I wouldn't add to both sides equally, I love more lip and fender-flushness!
