Does anyone see a problem with fitting a 195/40/17 tire on my bbs rc090's? aka style 5's.

Mystical, thanks for creating this thread.

Im sure this has been asked before, but I need to know the the tire size for my needs.
I am going to need the MOST contact patch I can get for the front as i will be drifting. Borbet Type As, 16x9 et15 all around. Can you suggest a front tire that will give me the most surface area for the front and the back? I will also be on BC Racing coilovers, and im sure ill have to use a 5mm spacer or so.

I was thinking 225/45/16 would give me the most width without the tire being too tall?

        Thanks!

The general style discussion forum, as well as a place to post your car, or any car for that matter.

i am thinking about following this guys wheel specs

          ccw lm20s
          17x9.5 +3 fronts and 17x10.5 +12
but with propper tire fittment and fender flares no streched tires.
he put these on a later model e30
          would it fit a 1987 model e30
are the wheel arcs different in rear? i heard but want to confirm.
Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

          Trust me it stock

              Late model E30, Full E30 M3 5-lug conversion.

I'd like to run a set of 17x8 ET20 wheels. I'm thinking 235/40 R17 up front and I'd like to fit 245/40 R17's in back. Does this seem doable? What kind of spacers / fender rolling would be required? This car will be getting painted so now would be the perfect time to be rolling and pulling if it will be required. Are 245's in the back doable or are they just too big to stuff under this late E30?

trying to see if i can run adapters on a set of unknown spec wheels. they're somewhere near 16x7 et10, if my measurements hold up. this picture is with 8mm of space, would need at least 10mm more to run an adapter. realistic or pipe dream? i have camber plates max'd out in picture.

Yes, that ugly weld. Just a bit of material from it should be enough, hopefully.

Late body style car, lowered on Ground Controls, camber plates, etc. I'm going to be running a 205/50 Star Spec. Looking for the most aggressive fitment I can pull off with rolling only. Thanks again, hopefully now you won't hear from me for a while.

Check the tire's load rating first. 80 is about the bare minimum I'd suggest on an E30 (and it still isn't safe, technically).

You'll need 33mm front adapters to clear the struts, and I'd suggest 225/40 rubber. Work the rest of the details from there if you can.

225/45 will work with a bit of fender massaging and lots of camber (which I assume you already have going on on a drift car). Unsure of BC Racing strut clearance on an E30, I have an 8K/12K set waiting for a customer car now and can't wait to see if his 16x9s will clear without spacers. On all other BMW platforms BC's add a whole whack of clearance compared to OEM or most other brand coils.

Even the 235s are difficult to fit without rubbing. 215/40 is the recommended size.

                                Theoretical 16x7 -8? It's possible, stick to a 195/45 or similar.
