I measured with the tires on. Used a wheel measuring tool (we use it on motorcycle wheels) and measured the outside face of the rim to the inside face of the rim (the part right below the lip).

Is that right? I measured my Dforce rims the same way and they measured 15x7

EDIT: snapped these when i test fitted the wheels, does this shed some light at all? sorry for the crapload of questions.
If you're measuring from outside edge to outside edge as it appears, then yes there's 1-1.5" of width that you shouldn't be counting.

Googling shows RS189s are 15x6 +38. Do these have aftermarket lips added?

I can suggest tires, what do you do with the car?
I just drive it quickly and take turns fast and soon m30 swap and prolly turbo in next year

Bought them from a kid who had the refinished at some point so im not sure. they deff look wider than other RS189's I've seen

So I deff measured wrong, finally was schooled on how to properly measure rim width by my old man

You were spot on, so thanks! My measurements were generous so they must be 6.5 and 7.5

Good stuff. Okay, so they're now:

                  15x6.5 +38
                  15x7.5 +25

Buy 15-20mm front spacers and extended bolts. 205/55 front 225/50 rear. You can run nice big fat tires with those offsets and no rear spacers.

Discount Tire Direct is retiring, but check out our partners at Tire Rack! With tires and wheels for virtually every vehicle make and model, Tire Rack is your new source for the best prices and selection for online and mail-order purchases.

I think everyone reading this should buy tires from the above. Free shipping for the 48 and the best pricing and brands.

225/45s would require fender rolling, yes. If the 215s are too expensive or not what you're looking for just get some great 205/50s.

Jay, got some 15x8 et 25 wheels. They currently have 195-50 but that's way undersized for my taste.

I plan on running 10-15 mm spacers. What the biggest tire I can run with?

Btw, car is on coilovers and I plan on lowering to the point of just covering the top of my tires.

                          Thanks.

What size spacers will I need to run 16x8 Style 5's on a 87' IS, 2" drop springs. They are drilled/filled.

I'm looking at APEX ARC-8's for my late model E30 with E30 M3 5-lug. I have no problem with fender rolling and pulling as needed or spacers. The options are 17x8 et20 or 17x8.5 et20. I know I can fit the 17x8 et20 with 235/40 17 without issues. My questions are:

1: Can I fit 17x8.5's front and rear with 245/40/17's front and rear?
2: If not, can I fit 17x8.5's front and rear with 235/40/17?
3: How about 17x8 in front with 235/40/17 and 17x8.5 in the rear with 245/40/17

                                Thanks in advance!
