I'm back with more questions Jay.

What would be the correct offset for a 17x8.5" wheel?

And if a 17x9.5" wheel can fit, what would be the optimal offset?

EDIT: I am going for the hella-flush look this time.

For a 17x8.5, you'll want about ET22 to safely clear the front struts. I could make it a bit closer, but since you want flush I'll be more lenient.

For a 17x9.5 in the front, ET10. In the back, up to ET26 will work.

And of course, you can get 205/40/17 on the 8.5s and a 225/35/17 on the 9.5s for a nice matching stretch, if you wanted staggered. Even if you didn't, those are good tire sizes for the wheels, being undersized they will be easier to fit.

Oh it'll fit, with some fender work and the offset (ET10) I mentioned. And wheelbase is the distance from the centerline of the front wheels to the centerline of the rear wheels, I promise not to mess with that. :p The track will be the same, just run ET10 all around.

Going to run some Diamond Racing wheels. What offset should I get them in? I can do different for front and back if necessary to avoid rubbing. I understand rolling the fenders will be required, but for 385 bucks to my front door for Falken Azenis this is too good of a deal to pass up.

Car will be for autocross/track. Not daily driven, not trailered.

"Fit"...with some fender mods. I know for a fact that 17x10 ET12 will work just fine on an early car with 225/35/17, with rolled fenders (and stiff GCs). It'll be a really tight fit, but if you're willing to take the chance on possibly needing to pull them why not try it.

I can't say they will work, E30s don't like oversized tires (especially by a full inch). If you're willing to start sledgehammering metal and definitely contacting the front chassis weld with a tire occasionally (located directly in the middle of each front tire) you can go for it, but I just can't recommend it. It's an "at your own risk" kind of deal.

A 16x8 ET20 would provide a good platform to work with.

205/50/15 sounds small, 225/50/15 sounds big. 215/50 is non existent

Those are SMALL. I don't want to even say a 205, because of the shoulder being pulled in on a 7" wheel. I'd wager 205/50/15 at the biggest, possibly a 195/55 or 195/50.

How small are you planning to go with the tires? A 205/40/17 would make that setup a fairly easy fit, I'd suggest just doing that. It'll look hot.
