Hi Jay,
I am interested in purchasing some Miro STP-1's, and was hoping to get 16x9's all around (4x100, 15 offset), and was wondering what spacer size i should run, and what tire size you would recommend. I am also planning to run GC coils with shortened strut housings, so i want to be able to run as low as possible.
Thanks!

Alright wheel fitment expert. Here's my story. I have two sets of wheels:
1. 17x7" ET25 wheels. Currently have Falken ze-512 (crap) in 215/40R17. (these fit excellent)
2. 16x7" ET35 wheels. Currently with goodyear eagle 205/50R16. (run with spacers)
If I stack the two sets of wheels beside each other, the 205's are significantly WIDER. Like, nearly an inch per wheel. Obviously, this has something to do with either the brand of rubber or the 215 mounted on 7" wheels.
Set 1, when stacked beside a set of 205/55R16 from a mazda were EXACTLY the same width.
So what gives? I thought I had all this shit figured out. Now I need new rubber on the 17s and love the Bridgestones on my E90, so I will probably get RE-11s.
Questions:
1. why is set 1 so skinny in your opinion?
2. can I fit 235/40R17 on 7" rims? The front are rolled flat but I cannot roll the rear due to seam sealer on the inside of the fender. (I might be able to roll it about 2mm up.)
The 16's look badass spaced out, but the car drives like shit and spins in 3 gear at any amount of boost. I guess the rubber is just old and shitty.
This is driving me nuts.Comment

The wheels will be WAY outside the fenders, and the tires are too tall. Not even close by any means.Comment

Don't put 235s on a 7" rim. It took me, another guy, and 3 pry bars to get stiff sidewalled 235/40/17s on 17x7.5s...it barely worked. The 7" wheel just isn't wide enough to provide good response with that size tire.
Stick to a solid 215/40, like those RE-11s, and be gentle with the throttle. :pComment

512s are, by far, the narrowest tires ever made. If you look up the section width of each of those tires, things should start to make sense. In addition, from the mazda reference, you know those Goodyears are running WIDE.

215/45 would be unwise then? I wouldn't mind *slightly* longer gearing.Comment

I like as much rubber as I can fit under the wheel wells as possible without pulling fenders. Heavy, flat rolling is ok with me, but I don't want to modify the exterior appearance of the fenders (nor by accident either )
Have a 17x8 and 17x9 set up, et20 and et19, respectively. On e30m3 suspension so basically the same as reg non-m set up if I'm not mistaken.
Little to no stretch is best. The less stretch the better, the more tire the better. Will probably end up some track time on this set up too. Full coils/koni/gc plates suspension. What can I fit under my late model?
Been searching and have some thoughts, but want to see if yours match up.
Thanks.Comment

AT Italia M Contour reps
E38 baskets
Mille Miglia MM-112
Mille Miglia Spyder
..and a couple others. They're all ugly except the first two, really.
You don't want an offset below around 30. You can realistically go as low as you want with fender work, but if you're not willing to go nuts, around 30 is your limit.Comment
