I realize the fronts will require spacers but I need to get the rears in as tight as possible for (obvious) fender clearance issues.

Any insight would be much appreciated!
I just came back from my first weekend running cantilevers. I went with the more rare Goodyear 23x8x15's (same size as the Hoosier 8.5"s despite what they call them). My used race slick source tells me the goodyear 9's are only 1/2" wider than the 8's for whatever that's worth. I was running 15x7 35mm offset wheels with 20mm spacers in front and 15mm spacers in the back. I had minimal contact with strut tube on one side in front and none at all in the back. Looks like the rear could move in a bit more and still be fine (I'm at net 20mm back there, I would think 15mm would be fine but it's hard to tell until you put it on track under load). My fenders are rolled but not terribly aggressively. Hope that helps.

Ah, fantastic info! How much room do you have to the strut in front at rest? And how much negative camber up front?

      Thanks!

Not bloody much. I used a 3mm wheel spacer I had laying around as a feeler gauge and it would not go between the sidewall and the strut tube. You can see daylight in there but after 5 sessions when I pulled the wheels off you could see a "polished" spot on the strut where it was contacting a bit. I'm happy with it like that, I've run with much worse. Did not damage the tire at all. I'm running 2.5 degrees negative camber, but that's too much. I'm going to stiffen the car up over the winter (stock sways being replaced with 22/19mm's) and drop the camber down to 2.0 or less. I don't think that will give me any fender clearance issues but only time will tell.

You will end up with zero ground clearance once you get the fender height correct. 195/45 if you're dead-set on them.

            E38 style 5's (R16, 8" wide, ET23, +10mm spacers all around).

Trying to push the limits here and I'm running into issues. Currently the car is lowered (billys + h&r) but I'm going all out with shortened ground control coilovers soon. I had some 205/55/16 (turanza) tires in the garage so I tried them out (pictured) but those rub very badly. In the rear the fender lip is contacting the sidewall. We rolled it a bit but it seems like we'll have to flare out the fenders quite a bit which I don't want to do.

In the front, while turning, the tread keeps catching the fender as well. Ultimately, it doesn't seem like 205/55s are possible with these wheel specs on a slammed car. I've seen quite a few e30s with 205/40 and 205/45 tire setups. I feel as though those tires are a bit small though, they don't quite fill the wells. My question is, are 205/50s possible?
205/45 is the key size for that setup. The offset is too low (Read: flush) to run a stock diameter tire.

I also like dished wheels, and want the ESM 004's, could I get away with running 17x9's with a 40 or 25 offset? I can run spacers if needed. I am not a fan of stretched tires, and am not really willing to run them. I could deal with a slight stretch but not much because I would like to keep it functional. And I won't run into any issues with 9's in the rear correct? Thinking somewhere along the lines of a 275/40/17 in the rear. I have thoughts of running a widebody, but that is a whole nother deal. If I can fit them under pulled rears that would be great, I am open to opinions!
17x9 +25 with a 245/40 and severely pulled rear arches is about the limit for stock fender material. Obviously with widebody my opinion is useless as you can build it to where you need.

Gonna run a GC full coilover setup if that helps. Rear fenders are rolled flat. BTW...et20.
here is a pic of the rear.....
It would be very strange if your front and rear offsets were both +20. Double check that.

Wish I had info to add (russ is va - thanks!). I have always had very little reference points for absolute E30 inside rear clearance.

How about 205/40/16. With 16x8 o off set will I have clearance for struts? Thanks for all your help.

Looking at some TRMotorsport C3M's on tirerack, 15x9 et36 I believe...

New to e30's but Im guessing I will need spacers all around and a fender roll. Can anybody confirm the specifics? Thanks!

how much backspacing is needed to clear the front and rear?

I found some momo quasar deep dish rims (almost 3" dish) with not much offset. Has anyone used these wheels on an e30? How do they fit? They are 15x8 i believe

I am trying to get more grip for autocrossing. I am currently running 205 50 15 and cannot get them hook up. They did fine until I put a Eaton M90 on the M20. Looking at running 17x9 and 17x10. The backspace is 6" on the 9" and 6 1/4" on the 10". I am also going to run bolt on flares. So my question is will the backspacing clear and how much should these stick out on a stock 87 325is. Also any ideas on tire width. I would like to use a 255 rear and 245 front.

                                Tire: Hankook RS3 225/45/15

Can I run 15mm spacers on the front and 20mm spacers on the rears without rubbing? Would I be poking either in the front or the rear?
